Children’s Book Writer from Skokie, Illinois Wins Acer Eight-Hour Video Contest

New York, NY (PRWEB) December 17, 2009

Tim Ackermans, an aspiring children’s book writer and part-time actor from Skokie, Ill., has been named winner of the 2009 Acer Eight-Hour Video Contest. Ackermans two-minute video, which received more than 22,000 views on the Acer website, is titled “Acer 8 Saves the World” to creatively show its eight-plus hours of battery life.

“When I found out I won, I began pumping my fists in the air like athletes do when they win a big game,” said Ackermans, who currently works as an office manager for his family’s accounting business. “I must have done it for several minutes and looked like I was impersonating a locomotive. Winning is fun.”

Ackermans will take home a valuable prize package from Acer including a trip for two to Las Vegas to attend the Consumer Electronics Show in January, three nights at a top Las Vegas luxury resort hotel, a Lucian Piccard designer wristwatch, $ 1,000 in cash and an Acer Aspire Timeline laptop computer.

How did Ackermans enter? “I found the contest while browsing the internet and thought it would be fun,” he said. “Acer is a quality brand, and I had nothing to lose, so I did it, and it really turned out to be a fun video to make.”

Ackermans winning entry, along with many other videos, will be included in a second phase of the Acer Eight-Hour Contest in categories including Most Viewed on You Tube; Most Promoted; Most Viewer Comments; and Most Favorites. Each category winner will receive prizes including Acer Aspire Timeline laptops, X-Box 360, Xbox Games and 120Gig ZuneMP3 Players, along with additional cash awards. Judging for the second phase of the competition will be done by the world — the internet audience — with the deadline of April 10, 2010.
