San Jose, CA (PRWEB) February 21, 2012

ThreatMetrix™, the fastest-growing provider of integrated cybercrime prevention solutions, announced today the launch of a new mobile software development kit (SDK) that helps identify fraudulent transactions originating from mobile applications. The new product, called TrustDefender™ Mobile, expands on ThreatMetrix’s already established malware detection and cookieless device identification technology for laptops and desktop computers. The same risk-based fraud screening capability that is available to browser-based transactions is now available to mobile applications.

As an embeddable library for smartphone applications, TrustDefender Mobile creates cross- validating device fingerprints based on hardware, operating system and application parameters. It offers ThreatMetrix customers a frictionless experience by embedding risk intelligence into a company’s native mobile applications, and ultimately providing comprehensive fraud screening solution across both browser and mobile application transactions.

“The PC era is in its sunset years and unfortunately smartphones have more limited form factors that make remote device verification difficult,” said Alisdair Faulkner, chief products officer, ThreatMetrix. “The iPhone blocks third-party cookies by default and when Apple released iOS 5, gone was the ability to globally identify a device based on its UDID. TrustDefender Mobile ensures that trusted user device identification and reputation is tightly integrated into a single platform for reducing risk across all web transactions and applications. This additional anonymous machine-level intelligence helps identify suspicious activities, such as when a criminal jailbreaks an iPhone in order to wipe the device’s identity.”

TrustDefender Mobile is introduced during a time when the mobile channel is becoming a hotbed for fraudsters. Enterprise security organizations are still grappling with the increase in the number of unmanaged endpoint devices that are not owned and supported by internal IT. Since many companies are allowing employees to use their own personal mobile device today, confidential company information passes over an unprotected device. There are also personal transactions made on the same device used for work, which if not fully protected, can lead to hacked company information and infiltration, added Faulkner.

Mobile cybercrime is not only a concern for the workplace today, but in a variety of other instances – such as mobile banking and mobile commerce. ThreatMetrix found that over the past year, there has been a 500% increase in mobile transaction volumes.

The results of a joint study with The Ponemon Institute in 2011, “Mobile Payments & Online Shopping Survey of U.S. Consumers,” also revealed the growing popularly – and fraud threat – of mobile transactions. Only 21% of the survey respondents, U.S. consumers who self-reported they are active users of the Internet, said they felt they are completely protected against fraudsters when conducting mobile banking activities in particular.

“Part of the problem with mobile fraud is that consumers don’t treat their mobile devices as the tiny computers that they actually are,” said Julie Conroy McNelley, analyst with Aite Group. “Employees are often willing to download apps of completely unknown provenance. As a case in point, 88% of the top global risk executives said they believe the mobile channel represents the next big point of exposure in financial services fraud.”

The ThreatMetrix™ Cybercrime Defender Platform

In addition to TrustDefender Mobile, other product solutions of the ThreatMetrix™ Cybercrime Defender Platform include:

TrustDefender™ ID — TrustDefender ID is a cloud-based, real-time device identification solution that protects companies against cybercriminals and helps validate valuable returning customers. TrustDefender ID provides businesses with a crucial first perimeter of defense to protect online transactions, including account creation, login authentication and payment authorization.

TrustDefender™ Cloud– TrustDefender Cloud is a cloud-based, real-time solution that helps companies protect customer data and defend against fraud, malware, MitB and Trojan attacks, and data breaches. It mitigates the risk of hidden malware compromising authenticated sessions to steal data, identities or money.

TrustDefender™ Client — TrustDefender Client is a client-based, real-time solution that mitigates the risk of hidden malware compromising authenticated sessions to steal data, identities or money. A small client component installed on end-user computers identifies and isolates malware, verifies legitimate websites, protects the online session with the business, and communicates with the business to identify potential fraud.

In conjunction with TrustDefender ID’s cloud-based device identification technology, TrustDefender Mobile provides bulletproof cross-platform authentication and fraud prevention without leaking personal information. TrustDefender Mobile is already offered for the iOS operating system, and is currently in the Beta stage for other devices, which will be offered later this year.

Clik

Waterloo, ON (PRWEB) February 16, 2012

The Clik Smart TV platform officially launches today, allowing content providers and app developers to build apps that communicate with any screen with a browser. The platform was developed by the same minds that created Kik Messenger, one of the fastest growing mobile instant messenger applications, now used by millions of consumers worldwide.

Unlike other Device-to-TV solutions that require consumers to own multiple devices made by the same manufacturer, Clik enables developers to build apps that connect iOS or Android smartphones to any screen with a browser. This means, no special hardware or wires are required. And Clik will work on any mobile operator’s network, or even over WiFi. Clik provides a super-fast connection between the devices and the platform does all the heavy lifting, so developers can build their app using Web developer standards, avoiding the time consuming and expensive process of developing for mobile platforms.

The Clik platform is designed to power third-party apps, which showcase TV shows, movies, games, pictures and almost anything else imaginable. When new apps are built using the Clik technology, users can scan a code on any browser to take control of the screen, allowing them to lean back and discover and control content on their phones while enjoying that content on a TV or monitor. Best of all, Clik lets friends join in on the fun with multiplayer mode. Anyone with Clik can scan into the same screen, so people can share control of the screen, and share experiences in a social setting.

“The ability for highly personal mobile devices, like phones, to easily take control of computers, TVs, cars, and other expensive and complex devices is one of the most important megatrends in technology right now,” said Fred Wilson, managing partner at Union Square Ventures. “Clik’s approach to this problem is novel and slick, bordering on magic. You have to see it to believe it. It’s a game changer.”

“The beauty of Clik is both its simplicity and ability to bring almost any content to any screen, anytime,” said Ted Livingston, CEO of Clik. “For consumers, there is no new box to buy, and no extra software to install. With apps built inside Clik, consumers can instantly take control of their friends’ Smart TV and start watching videos, playing games, or listening to their favorite music—you’ve really got to experience it to believe it.”

Clik also is releasing the first app powered by this new technology, a YouTube app now available for download on iOS and Android as part of the Clik download available here. This first app lets users discover and control YouTube content on their phone and wirelessly stream videos to any screen with a browser. The YouTube app also allows users to start, stop, search, browse or create favorites, instantly.

How to use the Clik YouTube App:

1. Download the app from iTunes or the Android marketplace here.

2. Go to http://www.ClikThis.com on any browser-enabled screen

3. Open the app and scan the QR code for an instant connection.

The phone is now your remote control! Start enjoying YouTube videos by selecting them on your phone and watching them on your Smart TV. You can also invite friends to join in by having them scan the same screen, to seamlessly control the video playlist together.

Develop for Clik!

Developers interested in the Clik Smart TV platform should sign up for the private beta here: partner(at)clikthis(dot)com

Try the Clik YouTube App for yourself:

Download the Clik app on your iPhone or Android device at discover.clikthis.com

About Clik

Clik Interactive provides the easiest way to discover and control content on any screen, using a smartphone. Developed by the creators of Kik Messenger, the viral messaging app that boasts millions of users, Clik will redefine the way people interact with screens and the way developers and content providers deliver user experiences. The company, which was founded in 2009, is based in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

St. Petersburg, FL (PRWEB) February 17, 2012

In what could be the largest purchase order of computer tablets by the government ever, the Air Mobility Command has announced they are proposing to buy over 18,000 Apple iPads for pilots and flight crews of the U.S. Air Force, according to Bloomberg. Unlike private airlines, who by now are all switching to tablets, Air Force crews are still lugging around 40 pounds of manuals and navigation charts. Although the government tends to drag its feet when it comes to adapting to new technologies, the US Government has had little hesitation in adopting Apple’s products and services, according to the Government Contracting Tips blog. In fact, over $ 25 million in contracts were awarded for Apple products throughout 2011.

During the last fiscal year, USASpending has recorded over $ 1.1 million in contracts awarded to Apple Inc. by various Federal Government agencies. During September alone, over 25 federal government contracts were signed with various government agencies for everything ranging from IPads to Macbooks to OSX Maintenance. Even a purchase for ITunes cards was made by the Small Business Administration during September.

Despite shrinking federal budgets, this data proves that IT contractors and technical services firms should expect to see even further growth in government contract awards throughout the remainder of the fiscal year. A report on the Federal Procurement Data System shows over 12% of government contracts were awarded for Professional, Scientific and Technical Services, second only to Electronics, Computer and Transportation Equipment Manufacturing. With the Obama Administration’s push for agencies to adopt cloud computing, provide more transparency to tax payers and allow more federal employees to engage in telework, IT government contractors in particular should expect significant growth during 2012.

On December 8th, the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program, or FedRAMP, was launched in an effort to allow more federal agencies to adopt cloud services which meet federal security standards. This and other factors, such as increased telework by federal employees and greater utilization of the web to provide government transparency to tax payers, has helped the information technology industry remain strong even during an economic downturn. Despite uncertainty in future government spending and procurement, experts all agree that professional, scientific and technical services, especially information technology related services, will remain in high demand by federal agencies.

“This past fiscal year we saw the highest number of contracts awarded to these firms,” said Eric Knellinger, President of US Federal Contractor Registration. “IT contractors, translators, engineers, lawyers, architects and researchers were awarded over $ 146 billion in federal contracts during 2011.”

In order to be considered eligible for any federal government contracts, firms must complete the required registration. This includes obtaining a D&B number and completing CCR registration and ORCA filing. Additional registration forms may be required for individual agencies and contracting vehicles. Small businesses can get immediate contracting help by calling the Contractor Helpline toll free at (877) 252-2700 ext 1. A Placement Specialist can then help them find current contracting opportunities, purchasing trends for federal agencies and review their registration for errors that could impact their ability to win government contracts.

Posted over the last 30 days, there are over 1,064 opportunities listed for professional, scientific and technical services firms on the FedBizOpps website, which lists federal contracting opportunities valued at $ 25,000 or higher. Federal contracting opportunities are not limited to large businesses only; 212 of those listings are set aside solely for various small business concerns.

US Federal Contractor Registration is a third party registration firm that has helped thousands of businesses complete their CCR registration and bid on contracts. US Federal Contractor Registration pairs businesses with a dedicated case manager who helps them every step of the way from initial registration to bidding on contracts.
Snoring Isn’t Sexy

New York, NY (PRWEB) February 10, 2012

Sleep apnea, a medical condition in which the patient stops breathing multiple times throughout the night, affects more than 20,000,000 people in the United States alone. Of this number, fewer than 15% have been diagnosed and treated and of those treated many cannot tolerate their prescribed medical treatment. Snoring Isn’t Sexy feels that a dedicated Facebook page is an ideal location to discuss dentistry’s new role in the recognition and management of sleep-breathing disorders.

Sleep apnea has been causally related to high blood pressure, heart failure, heart attack, stroke, diabetes, mental impairment, ED as well as excessive daytime sleepiness and drowsy driving.

Medical treatment of sleep apnea usually consists of treatment with a CPAP (continuous positive air pressure) unit which provides air under pressure, through a tube and mask generally worn over the nose, to support the structures in the throat that tend to collapse during sleep leading to apnea (without breath).

Some patients cannot tolerate the CPAP unit, others simply would prefer a less cumbersome alternative to the CPAP unit. Specially-educated dentists, working with a patient’s sleep physician, can treat sleep apnea (especially in mild to moderate cases) with a small, comfortable, custom-designed oral appliance that holds the lower jaw in a forward position splinting the structures in the back of the throat that tend to collapse during sleep.

“Unfortunately many patients are unaware that there is an alternative to CPAP,” said Dr. Laurence Barsh, President and Founder of Snoring Isn’t Sexy. “While our company does have an active web site that can be accessed by computer, tablet and smartphone, we felt that it was important to reach out to patients from Facebook as well to reach as many people as possible.”

About Snoring Isn’t Sexy, LLC

Rochester NY (PRWEB) February 01, 2012

Aware Bear Computers in Rochester New York k offers a convenient way to repair a damaged, broken or missing laptop dc power jack in the Rochester New York Area. Aware Bear Computers understands how expensive replacing a laptop can be. “During the years, computer owners get used to a certain way the computer is setup. When a new computer is purchased all the old customizations may not transfer over to the new machine,” mentions Andre Alves from Rochester New York.

With that in mind, Aware Bear Computers in Rochester New York is offering local Rochestarians the option to repair or replace a broken laptop dc power jack. If the laptop dc power jack is fixable, Aware Bear Computers is offering a $ 39 special in store flat repair rate for any laptop computer that includes all the labor charges. Andre Alves from Rochester New York explains that in many cases the laptop dc power jack can become loose from the normal daily use.

Aware Bear Computer Repair in Rochester NY can also replace a laptop dc power jack in case if the old unit is damaged beyond repair. This out of warranty laptop dc power jack repair and service in Rochester NY is a great way for laptop owners to avoid having to purchase a new laptop.

Andre Alves, CEO of the Aware Bear Computers in Rochester New York, has been getting laptops in for repair almost since the day the promotion came out. Andre finds that many people live in situations where finding a reliable computer repair store in Rochester New York is a lot more convenient than shipping their laptop off to an unknown location and having to pay for insurance and shipping supplies.

The number one laptop issue fixed by Aware Bear Computers in Rochester NY is: laptop dc power jacks, followed by keyboard problems, and overheating. But even motherboard and LCD screen repair can be done locally and relatively cheaply when compared to the price of a new laptop.

Dealing with manufacturers can mean hours spent on the phone, and the turnaround time is often too long for many users to endure. People are willing to pay for good quality work that comes with a written warranty in order to get it done privately from a company such as Aware Bear Computers in Rochester New York.

But a crucial question that can arise, especially with the “old reliable brand name” laptop: What happens if the cost to service a laptop is close to the cost of buying a new one? The answer is, it’s really a cost decision. If a laptop is worth $ 600, and it will cost $ 650 to repair, then replacement is obviously a better option. But be aware of the possible additional cost of operating systems and important applications such as MS Office that need replacing with newer versions. Data transfer is also an additional service; many computer users forget they have to pay in order to get documents, pictures, music and other important files moved into the new computer system.

Any questions about Aware Bear Computer Repair reliable laptop dc power jack services and repairs in the Rochester New York area, should visit: http://awarebear.com or call (585)473-7035 for more pricing information.
